Two new paintings going out to the East Coast for Outer Banks Squared in Nags Head, North Carolina at Seaside Art Gallery. I wish I could go with them! Both of these paintings are 6″ x 6″, opaque and transparent watercolor on board.
I am very fortunate to be so close to so many raptor facilities. I found inspiration for this painting from the University of Minnesota’s Raptor Center, where they rehabilitate and release so many injured birds, but also house ambassador education birds that are unable to return to the wild.
For this painting, I wanted to place a mother fox and her pups outside of a den. I included both a ‘red’ red fox kit as well as a black ‘silver’ color variant, which naturally occur in the same litter. I loved the expressions so much in this painting, I almost didn’t want it to end/finish.
