Almost finished with this small painting of a male kestrel landing on a textured log.  It’s taken a bit longer than I had anticipated to place all the details, but I like the movement and color.  I also love the pose of the bird in this piece. 

I was able to spend a while shooting photos and video of this beauty during a rehabilitated bird release by the Minnesota Raptor Center several years ago.
