Radiant Harmony: A Quiet Moment at Outer Banks Squared 2025

Radiant Harmony - Cardinal, 9.5" x 9.5", opaque & transparent watercolor on museum board, Rebecca Latham

I’m honored to share that my painting, Radiant Harmony, will be part of Seaside Art Gallery‘s Outer Banks Squared 2025 exhibition in Nags Head, a place where the natural world reveals itself in subtle, profound ways. This work grew from a quiet moment—a cardinal bathed in golden sunlight, resting gently on a daylily glowing with the same warm fiery hues, surrounded by delicate grasses swaying softly in an unseen breeze.

In Radiant Harmony, I wanted to capture more than just a scene. It’s a reflection on the fragile balance between light, life, and place—the way the sun’s glow seems to bind bird and flower in a shared brilliance, as if they are whole and complete through one another. There is a stillness here that invites contemplation, a whispered reminder of the delicate threads that connect us all.

I hope this painting speaks to a deeper reverence—not only for the beauty we see but for the mysteries that lie beneath. The cardinal is vivid and alive, yet it feels part of something greater, its brilliance amplified through the fleeting warmth of the daylily’s inner sunlight glow. It’s a quiet testament to resilience, to the wonder of being present in a world that is always shifting.

I am grateful to bring this piece to Outer Banks Squared 2025 and to share this moment of connection with you all. May it inspire a pause, a breath, and a sense of awe for the small wonders that surround us every day.
